A short classical piece in two movements. I had the idea for the opening theme about 15 years ago after purchasing my first orchestral sample library. Double bass and Cello. Then two weeks ago, as I was reorganizing and backing up my computer, I rediscovered the piece and decided to flesh it out...There was something martial about the idea which resonated with me as this coincided with the beginning of Russia's senseless invasion of Ukraine. I added various sections and more instruments - violins, oboe, trumpets, french horns, tympani, marimba, xylophone, even harpsichord in the second movement.
